Shiva means auspicious. This is an auspicious night. Every month has a Shivaratri – the fourteenth day of Krishnapaksha, the waning part of the lunar cycle, is called Masa (monthly) Shivaratri. Once a year, we observe Maha Shivaratri on the 14th day of the waning moon, in the month of Magha (February–March), which is the most auspicious of all Shivaratri nights. The moon is the presiding deity of the mind. Swami says, it is easy for a seeker to practice the control of mind and senses during Shivaratri.

The best way to celebrate this auspicious night is through Shravanam, Smaranam, Kirtanam & Darshan. This festival section helps us to practise all these forms of devotion through detailed information on Shiva principle, thought provoking stories of Nayanmars, brilliant activities for Group I and II, games to suit all ages, colourful rangolis and attractive Shiva wallpapers for the divine darshan!
