Gautama Buddha was a monk and a religious leader who is the founder of Buddhism. He was born to King Suddhodana. One day, when he came across people suffering in his kingdom, he gave up the life of a prince and took to the life of an ascetic in search of the truth. He then attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.

Sathya Sai Baba has said that one must have the head of Adi Shankara, the heart of Buddha and the hands of King Janaka. The name and form of Buddha spontaneously evokes feelings of compassion and peace. This is primarily due to the life of purity and sacrifice rooted in the principle of avoiding harm that Buddha led.

A small Introduction to Buddhism can be given before narrating stories from Buddha’s life. This could include Siddhartha Gautama’s childhood and the eightfold path to Nirvana (realization).
