Adi Shankaracharya was an Indian scholar and poet who was a proponent of the Advaita philosophy of Hinduism. He showed immense wisdom and clarity at a very young age. He went around the country spreading the philosophy of divinity within man (Advaita) and contested many other scholars who were considered to be preaching superficial truths of life. He established four Maths (monasteries) in the country. He is considered to have revitalised Hinduism in the country when it is said to have been going through a decline.

Shankaracharya encouraged the common man to practice human values and lead noble lives. He said that the human birth is sacred and must be not be wasted by just living with animal like qualities. Bhajagovindam is one of the compositions of Adi Shankaracharya. It prods man to develop devotion towards the lord instead of acquiring worldly knowledge which will not be of help when death knocks on our doors.

The section contains details about Adi Shankaracharya and the Bhajagovindam composition. The Balvikas Gurus can use these resources to explain to the class for better understanding.
