This engaging group activity helps children sharpen their listening skills, thereby promoting effective learning in their classrooms.

Materials Required:
  • A steel plate & a steel spoon
How to play:
  1. Students are asked to sit quietly for a minute in their respective places.
  2. The Guru stands with her back facing her class.
  3. She starts tapping the plate with the spoon and stops after say, 10 taps.
  4. Next, she turns around and asks the children as to how many times she had tapped. They may give different answers.
  5. Claps for those who say the right answer- 10
  6. The game continues in this manner with many rounds.
  7. Prizes are given to the ultimate winners who answer correctly in all the rounds.
Tips to gurus:
  • Students giving wrong answers in 3 successive rounds may be eliminated.
  • Winners must be applauded, impressing upon the entire class the importance of concentration for success in any field.
    (Eg. sports, studies etc. citing suitable examples)
