Pashya me Paartha roopani shatasho-atha saharsahah
Naanaa-vidhaani divyaani naanaa-varnaakrutini cha
(chap.11, verse 5)
O Arjuna (son of Prithaa)! See My hundreds and thousands, of divine and multi-coloured forms.
Arjuna pleaded with Lord Krishna to let him see His Cosmic Universal form, His Vishwaroopa.
Knowing his anguish, Krishna replied, “Arjuna! You cannot see My Glory with your physical eyes. Therefore, I shall confer on you Divine Vision.”
After giving him Divine Vision, He displayed to Arjuna His Viraat Swaroopa (Universal Form).
Arjuna saw the whole Universe in the Lord’s Body. He saw the Heavenly bodies. (Sun, Moon and Planets). He saw the five elements (earth, water, fire, wind and sky). He saw the sages and saints and all living beings in Krishna.
This entire Universe is permeated by the Divine. Every object is a part of the Divine. The Cosmos composed of these myriad forms, is described as the ‘Vishwa Viraat’ or ‘Cosmic Being’. We must look upon this multifaceted Universe, with all its beings as One Divine Entity.
God exists in every creature and everything in the Universe.
Howard Murphet gives an example of this in his book Man of Miracles. He refers to the experience of Dr.Y.Rao, who was then the head of the Geology Department of Osmania University in Hyderabad.
One day at Puttaparthi, Baba picked up a rough piece of granite and handing it to Dr.Rao, asked him what it contained. The geologist mentioned a few of the minerals in the rock.
Baba : “I don’t mean those, something deeper.”
Dr.Rao : “Well, molecules, atoms, electrons, protons, neutrons.”
Baba : “No! No! Deeper still.”
Dr.Rao : “I don’t know, Swami.”
Baba took the lump of granite from the geologist and holding it up with His fingers, blew on it. Dr.Rao says that, although it was never out of sight, when Baba gave it back, its rectangular shape had changed to a statue of Lord Krishna playing the flute. The surprised geologist also noted a difference in the colour and a sight change in the composition of the rock.
Baba said, “You see? Beyond your molecules and atoms, God is in the rock, and God is sweetness and joy. Break off the foot and taste it.”
Dr.Rao, found no difficulty in breaking off the granite foot of the little statue. Putting it into his mouth, he discovered that it was candy.
From this incident, Dr.Rao says that he learned something beyond words and far beyond modern science, in fact beyond the limits of the rational mind of man today.
