Whispering the Good
Whispering the Good
Objective:
An interesting game that inculcates the art of listening attentively and make the communication effective.
Related Values:
The game helps the child to improve their understanding skills through positives and inspiring messages.
Materials required:
Small pieces of Card boards with Human Values written on it.
Preparatory work for the Guru:
A list of sayings – positive, value-based and funny sentences. The sentences should be short, not more than 4 words.(Example: “Love all, serve all”, “Help ever, Hurt never”, “Love your parents”). A set of “Human Value” cards.
How to Play
- The Guru should make the children sit in a circle. One child should go to the guru, who whispers a sentence in the child’s ear.
- The child then goes to their place, and whispers the sentence to the child next to them, who in turn whispers what they’ve heard to the child next to them, clockwise.
- No one is allowed to repeat the sentence out loud.
- Only the last child in the circle should say out loud what they have heard. Then, the child who began the game says aloud the original sentence.
- If the last child says the sentences correctly (the general meaning) the team wins 1 “Human Values” card.
- The game then continues with different sentences and different beginners.
- The Guru should later discuss the significance of the sentence with the children, along with the importance of effective communication.
