Human Knot

Genre – Indoor Game
Learning Objectives:
  • Through this mind-blowing activity, children learn to face challenges boldly and patiently & derive ways to overcome them, as a team. They learn that no task is impossible when they work in unison.
Values:
  • Patience
  • Determination
  • Teamwork
  • Problem-solving
  • Self-satisfaction
Materials Required:
  • Nil
No. of children:
  • 8 (boys) at a time
How to Play:
  1. 8 boys form a circle.
  2. All of them place both their hands at the centre such that their fingertips meet at the same point (16 hands)
  3. With eyes closed, each boy grabs two other hands, at random.
  4. Next, they are asked to open their eyes. Now they will be noticing that their hands have got entangled in a haphazard manner. (Eg. X may be holding Y’s right hand with his left hand and Z’s left-hand with his right hand!!!)
  5. Now, the Guru asks them to devise possible ways of disentangling their hands, to form a circle ultimately once again. (Mutual suggestions are allowed)
  6. During that process, they should still be holding the same hands. In other words, they are not supposed to leave those hands which they are already holding and grab some other hands to suit their convenience.
  7. Those who are found doing so, are declared out of the game.
  8. Also, those who are found with no hand being held even for a moment will be out.
After many trials & errors, when children achieve their goal, together working as a team, they feel so thrilled!!!
