Materials Required:
- A tray
- 10 objects
- A small towel
- Pen & Paper
Preparatory work for the Guru:
The Guru collects 10 useful items that are in common use (eraser, key, matchbox, bell and so on). She then places them in the tray.
How to Play
- This game is played in pairs. The Guru gives a paper and a pen to each pair.
- She displays the tray with the items, to the class for one or two minutes and asks them to have a close look at the items.
- After that, the tray is covered with the towel
- The children are asked to write down as many items as they remember.
- The pair which is able to write the maximum number of items scores the highest points.
Variations:
The Guru removes any two items or interchanges the places of items and asks to name the items beginning with any particular letter, say P and so on.
Tips to Gurus:
- A class discussion may be initiated as to how each of these items is useful (matchbox – light, flower – fragrance) so that children develop the attitude of seeing good in all.
- Whenever children get stuck up, they may be asked to chant Gayatri mantra which has the power to enhance their memory. This will enable them to recollect more and more of the items and more importantly to realize the potency of the Gayatri Mantra!!
