Shivoham – Activity (Group II)

Objective:

Children will be recalling and remembering the Names of Lord Shiva.

Related Values:

Curiosity, Spirit of enquiry, accuracy, discrimination, sense of achievement.

Materials Required:
  1. Set A and Set B words
  2. Sheet of Paper
  3. Pen
Procedure:

The guru asks the children –

  1. To divide the page into 2 parts – SET-A and SET-B
  2. To note down the 17 words under set A, as she calls them out, one by one (eg. GANGA)
  3. To write the appropriate second half of the Names (while she calls out one by one slowly) in the Set B column (eg.DHAR)
  4. At the end, children are expected to arrive at the 17 Names of Lord Shiva, matched correctly.

Example–

Set A Set B
GANGA DHAR
NAT RAJ

As an outdoor activity Procedure:

  1. The guru writes each word from SET A on 17 slips of paper. Similarly from SET B, she prepares 17 slips of those words.
  2. She makes 2 teams with 17 children in each team.
  3. Set A chits are handed out to each of the 17 children in TEAM A.
  4. Similarly set B chits are handed out to each child in TEAM B.
  5. Next, each child of Team A will find out his correct match from Team B by approaching them and enquiring from them. All this is to be done in a disciplined manner under the supervision of the guru.

At the end there will be 17 pairs of children The guru will see to it that the Names thus formed are correct.
