Preparatory work for the Guru:
- The guru has to select, 10 Gita verses for the Activity.
- She makes 20 cards from cardboard (size -playing cards)
- Set of 10 cards in blue & another set of 10 cards in pink.
- The first line of the 10 selected Verses are to be written on the 10 blue cards ; The second line of the Same Verses, to be written on the 10 pink cards.
- On the reverse side of the card Swami’s picture may be pasted.
- The cards should look colourful and attractive. (Alternatively, Swami’s pocket calendars 10+10 may be used to write the Verses on the reverse side)
- With all this done, the cards are ready.
How to Play
- The Guru shuffles the 20 cards thoroughly.
- Next, she places the cards, irrespective of the colour, in four rows with five cards in each row.
- The cards should be placed in such a way that the written part is facing down (not visible).
- At a time four children can play.
- The first child picks up two cards simultaneously, one BLUE and one PINK and checks if both the lines of the verse match or not.
- If they match, he reads out the verse and keeps the set with himself. Also, he gets another chance to play.
- If not, he has to put them back in the same place, after showing them to the rest of the children.
- Now the second child takes his turn and thus the Memory Game continues till all the cards in the two Sets are matched i.e. the players successfully come out with all the 10 Gita Verses completely matched!!
Variations:
- Gita verses and their meanings can be given.
- The first word and the last word of Gita verses can also be used to play this game.
Tips to Gurus:
The Guru may add any number of Gita verses keeping in mind the availability of time and the difficulty level of the children.
