A Holistic approach to teaching
Experiential Learning is an innovative teaching technique in Balvikas that enables students to learn from their own experiences.
There is an old adage –
‘I hear and I forget
I see and I remember
I do and I understand!’
For instance, when a child attends a lecture on a scientific experiment, he may not remember it after a few days; when he watches the demonstration by his teacher, he is likely to remember it for sometime; but when he does that experiment by himself, he tends to learn by trial and error. He gets a deeper insight into the subject-matter and it gets registered well in his memory.
Needless to say that, it is this kind of learning, acquired by hands-on experience, that is more lasting than the previous two cases. This applies to all learning processes, be it preparing a science model, a craft item, or a project.
