Memory Chain
Objective:
This activity emphasizes the importance of developing observation and listening skills in children which are an essential part of any learning process. It also helps boost sequential auditory memory skills.

Preparatory work for the Guru:
None
How to play
- The Guru asks the children to form a circle and be seated.
- She explains to them as to how to go about the activity.
- The Guru touches the shoulder of the child who will be the ‘starter’.
- The game starts with the first child starting with a clap (Example: A clap and a snap).
- The next player must follow the same pattern (A clap and A snap) and add a pattern of his own.
- The game continues with each child repeating the entire pattern in the correct sequence along with adding a new one of his own.
- The child who is not alert or makes a mistake in between is ‘out’ and the last child who remains ‘not out’ is the winner.
Variations:
To make it more fun-filled and to add variety the patterns could be – claps, snaps, humming, loud laugh etc.,(only auditory)
Tips to the Gurus:
Gurus may relate this activity with the oral tradition of the origin of Vedas, purely based on listening and hence known as Sruti.
