TOMATO RASAM

RASAM is an integral part of south Indian meals.This is a very simple rasam prepared with tomatoes, jeera and pepper.This also can be taken as a soup. It is not only tasty,but also soothing when suffering from flu.

 

In a mixie jar, add garlic.

Run it once

and add tomatoes, make a smooth paste.

In a pan , heat oil, add mustard, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and red chillies.

Now add tomato extract and salt.

When it boils well, add cumin powder and pepper powder ,boil for another 2 minutes.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes ( ripe ones) - 4
  • Garlic - 5 Cloves
  • Red chillies - 2
  • Cumin powder - 2 teaspoon
  • pepper powder - 2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard and hing
  • Salt
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing.

Method

  1. In a mixie jar, add garlic. Run it once and add tomatoes, make a smooth paste.
  2. Add 1 cup of water so it is not very thick.
  3. In a pan , heat oil, add mustard, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and red chillies.
  4. Now add tomato paste and salt.
  5. When it boils well, add cumin powder and pepper powder ,boil for another 2 minutes.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves.
