PESARATTU DOSA

Pesarattu is a popular break fast recipe of Andhra Pradesh.This is a healthy and nutritious dosa variety.This is made with whole green gram.Let us see how to make pesarattu.

 

Soak green grams and rice for 8 Hours. And transfer to a blender.

Grind the soaked mixture into a smooth paste in a mixer. And Heat a dosa pan, make like normal dosa.

Add oil/butter and cook both sides.

NOTE :
* This batter need not be left for fermentation.We can use it immediately after grinding.
* We can store this batter for 3 days in the refrigerator.
* This batter doesn’t sticks to the pan like normal dosa.Even the first timers can make perfect dosa.

My Recipe

Prep Time: 15 mins( Excluding the soaking time of green Gram )
Cuisine: Andhra Pradesh.
Yields: 12 dosa's

Ingredients

  • Green Gram ( Pacha payiru or pesalu) 1 cup
  • Raw rice - 1/4 cup

Method

  1. Soak green gram and raw rice overnight ( 8 hours ).
  2. Grind the soaked mixture into a smooth paste in a mixer. Make the paste in a dosa batter consistency by adding water and salt.
  3. Heat a dosa pan and make like normal dosa by adding little oil.
  4. It goes well with rava upma filling and with coconut chutney or ginger chutney.5) kids will love it with butter on the sides.

  6. VARIATIONS : * Before making dosa, add the paste of onion , green chillies and ginger to the batter.Mix well and make dosa's.
