LOTUS SEED (Phool Makhana) GRAVY

Phool Makhana or Lotus seed Gravy is a very healthy recipe and can be used as a side dish for roti,chapathi,dosa, rice etc.

 

Ingredients

1. Heat a wide pan and roast the lotus seeds for 5 minutes on low flame till they become crispy. This can be eaten as such like a snack (like popcorn )

2.Heat oil in the pan. Add green chillies, onion, salt and fry till onion gets fried well

3. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and fry

4.Add Garlic Ginger paste and fry till raw flavour goes away

5. Add tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes till it forms a thick gravy

6. Add the fried lotus seeds and mix well with masala

 

7. Add little water and cook covered on low flame for 10 minutes till the masala is absorbed

8. Garnish with coriander leaves. Lotus seeds gravy is ready. Serve Hot with Roti or dosa

Ingredients

  • Lotus seed or Phool Makhana - 2 cups
  • Onion sliced- 2 medium
  • Tomato sliced- 2 medium
  • Green chillies - 3 medium
  • Coriander powder- 2 tsp
  • Chilli Powder-1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder- 1 tsp
  • Garlic Ginger paste- 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Salt to taste

Method

  2. Remove them into a bowl
  3. Heat oil in the pan. Add green chillies, onion, salt and fry till onion gets fried well
  4. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and fry
  5. Add tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes till it forms a thick gravy
  6. Add the fried lotus seeds and mix well with masala
  7. Add little water and cook covered on low flame for 10 minutes till the masala is absorbed
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves

    Sairam, It’s good. And easy. But not available in alltowns. Please post the local name of phool makhana as many Will be confused by it’s name. Please also post close picture. Thanks for the recipe. Sairam.
