Black channa or Kala channa, chickpeas recipe is often made during Navarathri and Ganesh chaturthi festival. This sundal is a very good evening snack for children and elders. Let us see how to make this healthy black channa sundal.
Wash and soak black channa overnight or 6 – 7 hours.
Pressure cook with little water and Salt until channa becomes soft and well cooked (for 5 -6 whistles).
Once the pressure is released, open the cooker. Check if cooked well.
In a pan, heat oil, add Mustard seeds, when it splutters add Urad dhal, red chillies and fry till dhal turns golden. Now add Curry leaves and saute for a second.
Then add cooked channa to the seasoning, saute for 2-3 minutes.
Add the Grated coconut and serve hot
