COCONUT BURFI

It is a classic traditional Indian sweet that is prepared during festivals and on special occasions.

It is very easy to make and only with very few ingredients which are easily available in our kitchen.

My Recipe

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Yields: 16 burfi's

Ingredients

  • Grated Coconut - 1 cup.
  • Sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Ghee - 2 tsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp

Method

  1. In a non- stick pan add sugar and enough water just to immerse sugar.
  2. Keep mixing on a low flame till syrup becomes thick.
  3. Add cardamom powder and grated coconut mix well for 5 minutes on a low flame.
  4. Add 1 tsp of ghee and keep stirring till the mixture becomes thick.
  5. Grease a tray with ghee and keep it ready.
  6. Once the mixture becomes thick, pour it in a greased tray and allow it to cool.
  7. Then start making pieces as desired shape you need.

NOTE

* Making Burfi is no matter of knowing chemistry, when to remove and when to add. If we remove very early, it becomes halwa, if we delay , it becomes hard and powder.
* Use the same measurements as above for Coconut Burfi .. You will get it right.
