Ingredients
- Bengal gram (kadalai paruppu or channa dal)- 2 cups
- Red chillies-4
- Garlic-4 cloves
- Cinnamon - 1/2 inch
- Cumin seeds- 1/2 teaspoon
- Aniseed(big cumin or sombhu)- 1/2 teaspoon
- Onion -1 cut to small pieces
- Curry leaves few
- Salt
- Oil for deep frying
Method
- Soak gram dal for 2 hours
- In a mixie jar, add cinnamon, red chillies, garlic, cumin, aniseed and run for 10 seconds
- Drain the water from soaked dal..add half the dal to the mixie jar and run for 4 seconds
- Take the contents of the mixie jar into a bowl
- Add the remaining half of soaked dal without water
- Add onion pieces, curry leaves,salt and mix well
- Take small portion of the mix in your hand, shape into vadas
- Deep fry in hot oil. Serve with coconut chutney

It’s tasty as we usually make at home many times. It consumes very less oil for frying as compared to pakodas
