Jam Jar Lantern
On Buddha Poornima Day, people generally gather and offer their prayers to Lord Buddha. There is a party feel to the whole occasion. Houses and streets are cleaned and decorated with Buddhist flags and flowers. Buddhists gather around the statue of Lord Buddha when it is dark. They walk around the statue with candles to light up the place.
Buddhists use light (candles, butter lamps, lanterns) to celebrate Buddha Poornima to recall that Buddha showed people how to become enlightened.
