17. Om Shri Sai Parthi Graamodbhavaaya Namah
[Who is born in a village called Parthi.]
Puttaparthi, the famous village where Baba was born was earlier called Gallapali, meaning ‘the village of cowherds’. It was a prosperous place. But later, a cowherd had killed a snake as the snake had been drinking milk from a cow. Ever since, the cowherds shrank in number and the village saw a lot of snake hills proliferate. Thus Galapalli acquired the name Puttaparthi (village of snake hills).
Just before Baba was born on November 23,1926, in Puttaparthi, musical instruments started playing on their own as a sign of welcoming Baba. Astrologers predicted that a divine incarnation was about to happen. Baba was born and the village was redeemed and prosperous again.
