Gayatri Mantram Sloka

We meditate upon the auspicious Godly light of the Lord Sun; may that heavenly light illumine our thought flow in our intellect.

OM	The primeval sound, the basis of creation
BHUH	The Earth, the gross, the physical body
BHUVAH	The Atmosphere, the subtle. It also refers to the subtle body(the mind, intellect and life forces)
SWAH	Heaven, the region beyond Bhuvah, the causal
TAT	That. The ultimate reality(God) is referred to as That because it cannot be described. It is beyond words.
SAVITUR	The Divine Savitri equated with the vivifying power contained in the Sun’s pure illumination.
VARENYAM	Supreme, we adore the glorious power that pervades the Sun and the three worlds
BHARGO	Radiance, lustre, illumination
DEVASYA	Divine radiance or Grace of God
DHEEMAHI	We contemplate/meditate upon
DHI	Intellect
YO	He who
NAH	Our
PRACHODAYAAT	Requesting / urging / praying
