Nagarathinamma’s Blessed Darshan of Bhagawan Sri Rama
Nagarathinamma was a devoted follower and disciple of the great Saint Tyagaraja Swamigal. She was also instrumental in organising the annual Tyagaraja Aradhana at Tiruvaiyaru in a grand manner. She lived in Bengaluru. One night, Saint Tyagaraja Swamigal appeared in her dream and told her that God had incarnated in human form and would soon be visiting Venkatagiri. He lovingly instructed her to go there and receive the Lord’s blessings. Nagarathinamma immediately wrote to Venkatagiri Raju, the heir of the Venkatagiri royal family. She asked him whether the Lord in human form would indeed be visiting Venkatagiri and, if so, whether she could have His darshan.Venkatagiri Raju confirmed that Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba would be visiting Venkatagiri.
It was Gokulashtami, and on that very day, Bhagawan made His first visit to Venkatagiri. Nagarathinamma was blessed to sit before Bhagawan. Filled with deep devotion, she sang the beautiful kritis of her beloved Guru, Saint Tyagaraja Swamigal. She was also blessed with a private interview with Bhagawan. Having had the darshan of Bhagawan’s beautiful form, Nagarathinamma was filled with supreme bliss and gratitude. With deep devotion, she prayed: “O Lord, may I be blessed with a peaceful and gentle death. At my final moment, may I be able to utter the sacred name of Rama.”
Bhagawan, moved by her sincere devotion, graciously granted her this boon. Thus, guided by the loving command of Saint Tyagaraja Swamigal, Nagarathinamma received the blessed darshan of the beautiful form of the Avatar. Her heart was filled with joy, peace and fulfilment as she returned from Venkatagiri with the Lord’s blessings.
