Once in very, very olden times, the people of Romania thought that the old people are an unnecessary encumbrance. They are weak and old and are unable to do any work. What is the use of keeping such people? They have already lived their life . So they decided to kill all the old people in the country. All the old people above the age of fifty were ordered to be killed. Lots of wise and old people were killed and a store-house of wisdom, knowledge and experience was destroyed. A young man had great love and respect for his father. He did not want him to be killed. He hid him in a cellar and took good care of him. He always consulted his father in the time of difficulty and trouble. Nobody knew that the old man was living. As the years passed, terrible drought overtook the country and brought famine in its wake. The people had a lot of sufferings, troubles and sickness. The stores of food grains were fully exhausted. They did not have a single grain of seed to sow in the land. They were helpless to solve this problem. Everybody looked worried. The old man saw everything from his cellar. He asked his son the cause of his worry. The son told him about the problem the country was facing. The old man thought for a while and then said. “Don’t worry, my son! Don’t tell it to any one for the time being. Take your plough and plough up the lane in front of your house, then rake it over.” The son did just as his father had advised. The rains came and wheat, barely, oats and beans began to sprout out of the ground at some places. Soon the news spread about this unheard thing. The people were surprised to see a man reaping when he had not sown anything. The old man had advised his son to do so, because he knew from his experience that when the people bring their crop home, many seeds drop on the ground in the way. He was sure that some seeds may be lying un-noticed in the lane in front of his house. He was proved right. Soon the king summoned the boy to know the secret of his wisdom. After a lot of hesitation, the boy told the king that his old father had advised him to do so. The king was wonder-struck at the wisdom of the old man. He asked the boy to bring his old father to the court, because he wanted to reward him. After all the old man had saved the life of the whole nation by his sagacious advice. After this incident, the people of that country did not kill their old people. They loved and respected them. The treated them as a valuable treasure for the nation. Your parents and grand parents need your love and care. In old age people don’t have much to do, so they begin to feel lonely. They need your company. The old people become physically weak and inactive. The old age affects their mental health also. They become irritable and demanding like children. They seek your attention as the child does. The young people often do not understand this change in the behavior of the elderly people. Besides the physical care the old people need your company. Sit with them and give them your company. Make the old people feel that they are not an unnecessary burden, but they are most wanted and loved. Make them feel wanted, respect, loved and cared for. Keep your elders well and cheerful, if you want their guidance and earn their blessing in life.Story

Gandhi’s mother Putlibai observed everyday a vow known as ‘Kokila Vratha’. As soon as she completed the ritual, she would wait for the call of the Kokila (the Indian Cuckoo) before her breakfast. She would not touch food until the Cuckoo sang in his sweet voice. One day, she kept waiting for a long time, for the fortune bird to give her the permission to eat food. She calmly waited near the window looking for some signs of the cuckoo bird, but alas she found none. Little Gandhi noticed his distressed mother near the window. He quickly drafted a plan in his head and went out of the house to imitate the cooing of the cuckoo. He snuggled behind the bush and imitated the Cuckoo’s voice, and then ran inside the house to tell his mother, “Mother you can eat your food now as it has made its call.” Gandhi’s mother had been following this ritual for past many years. She quickly came to know about her child’s silly prank. Unable to contain her grief, she slapped Gandhi and wailed, “What sin have I committed that such a wicked liar should be born to me! Oh Lord!” Her misty eyes and broken heart of belief deeply moved Gandhi. That day he made a promise to her, “From this day, I will not utter falsehood. I will not do anything that would hurt my mother’s gentle heart”. Thus began his saga of truth. Thousands of years ago there lived in our country, Bharat a boy named Shravan Kumar. As his parents were old and had lost their eye-sight, Shravan Kumar used to carry them in baskets hanging from a pole, which he carried across his shoulders. For years he served them with love and devotion. The parents too loved their son. Hundreds of years ago, in Maharashtra, there lived a boy named Pundalika. He too served his parents with great devotion. Every night Pundalika would press his father’s legs. One night, pleased with his service to his father, God appeared in the room to bless him. At that time Pundalika was pressing his father’s feet. He did not want to disturb his father who was just about to fall asleep. So without stopping his service, he pushed a brick towards god and said, “Lord! Please wait here till my father falls asleep.” Lord Panduranga stood on the brick and waited. At last Pundalika finished. He came and prostrated to Lord Vithoba. Lord Vithala blessed him and told him to ask for any boon he wanted. Pundalika prayed, “Lord, please stand here and grant Your Divine Darshan to others also in the same way as you have blessed me .”Story of Shravan kumar

God has given you father, mother, brother, sister, grand-parents, teacher, friends and show that they love you and you love them. How do you show that you love them? Love means making everyone happy. Your father and mother work very hard. They spend so much time and money, just to make you happy. This is because they love you very much. Always remember this. Try to make your father and mother happy. Do you want to know how? Obey them. How to make brothers and sisters happy? By not fighting with them. Speaking in a nice way you can show your love to them. Grand-parents love you a lot. Spend time with them. Talk to them. Go out with them for a walk and obey them. Akshay had a pet dog. He loved his dog. It barked a lot, but Akshay loved it. One day, his brother Anil fell ill. He needed a lot of rest and quiet. But the dog went jumping around the house barking. Anil did not complain because he knew that his brother loved his pet a lot. Akshay also loved his brother a lot and knew that his brother required a lot of rest. So he took his pet to his friend Jay and asked him to take care of it till his brother became alright. Can you measure how much your mother loves you? You can’t measure. Same way how much God loves us can’t be measured. When somebody loves us and takes care of us what should we do? We should also love them and obey them. We should respect and listen to our parents. They will always do everything that is good for us. “Gods love is so wonderful” God’s love is so wonderful (2) In HindiSong
