Man is deluded by his unlimited desires. Because of this, he forgets the supreme consciousness that is inside of him. Swami has said that in our life journey, lesser the luggage more comfortable is the travel. In this context, he refers to luggage as our worldly desires. Keeping a ceiling on our desires helps us to remain steady. “We have to cut short our desires day by day. Happiness begins to dawn when desires are totally eradicated.”(Sathya Sai Speaks Volume 32, Part 1)
Swami has told to use money, time, food and energy only when necessary. These are the first steps towards ceiling on desires and mastering the mind. Practising this also helps in control of the five senses.
This section contains a game on ‘Ceiling on Desires’ for the children and excerpts from Swami’s discourses. Swami has extensively spoken about this topic to students and devotees.
