The word Religion is derived from the word ‘Re-ligare’ which means being bound to one’s source’, which is God. Just as a child after playing wishes to go back to his mother for security and protection, so also man feels a strong inner desire and longing for God, his mercy, protection and love.
Religion means having faith in a divine saving power; divine law and regulating one’s behaviour and conduct on a moral basis by being good, doing good and seeing good. Religion helps us to keep harmony in the universe. All religions are a link or bridge between Man and his Creator. All religions try to describe God in their own way. But the same God is the goal of all religions.
Sarva Dharma Aikyataa
Baba says, “Mata (Religion) is to be engaged to straighten and strengthen the Mati (mind). Goal of all religions is to help an individual to control his mind and liberate him. If all individuals control their minds and think in the proper direction there will be peace in the society.
One should not criticise any religion. We must remember that there is only one religion – Religion of Love. There is only one Caste – The Caste of Humanity.
The Sai Religion
The goal of all religious founders and propagators was the same. They wanted to do good, be good and see good and educate the people to be useful members of the society. For this, the mind should be cleaned, controlled and channelized in the proper direction.
Baba says:
- We must put into practice the religious teachings of the great saints.
- We must love our family members and home should become the centre of harmonious living.
- It is important to have belief in Fatherhood of God and brotherhood of Man.
- Ego, Greed and Envy should be removed from the hearts.
- We must have steadfast faith in the power of God and always be patient.
We must put into practice the teachings of our own religion and cultivate faith in the Almighty God and give regard and respect to every religion.
This is Sai Religion, which embraces and accepts all religions and emphasises its common greatness. Take up this religion boldly and joyfully.
