Swami Vivekananda was born as Narendranath Dutta in Kolkata, West Bengal. He was the disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He is known to have actively promoted the philosophy of Vedanta and introduced Hinduism to the Western world. Vivekananda always exhorted that the most practical form which Vedanta should take immediately was the uplift of the masses and relief of their sufferings. The natural tendency of Vivekananda’s mind, like that of his Guru Ramakrishna, was to soar above the world and forget itself in contemplation of the Absolute.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba says that Swami Vivekananda is remembered to this day because of his flawless character which had qualities of Patience, Forbearance, Steadfastness and Charity.
