Whether we call it as ‘Padikattu Kolam’ or ‘Izhai Kolam’, Indian festival celebrations start with such traditional Rangolis encircled by a red sand, called ‘Semman’, that marks the presence of auspiciousness. Let’s bring home auspiciousness through such white Rangolis!. In today’s Gita Sloka 40 of Chapter 1, Arjuna too speaks about religious traditions and Dharma.
பாரம்பரியப் பண்டிகைக் கோலங்கள்
‘படிக்கட்டு கோலம்’ அல்லது ‘இழை கோலம்’, என்ன பெயரிட்டாலும், பண்டிகைக் கொண்டாட்டத்தின் துவக்கமே, மங்களகரமான செம்மண்ணால் கோடிடப்பட்ட நம் பாரம்பரியக் கோலங்கள்தான். இத்தகைய வெண்மைக் கோலங்களால் நாமும் நம் இல்லங்களுக்கு மங்களம் சேர்ப்போம்! இன்றைய கீதை ஸ்லோகத்தில் (40, அத்தியாயம் 1), அர்ச்சுனன் கூட குல தர்மம் பற்றியும், பாரம்பரியம் பற்றியும்தான் கூறுகிறார். கேட்போம்! கற்போம்!
कुलक्षये प्रणश्यन्ति कुलधर्मा: सनातना:|
धर्मे नष्टे कुलं कृत्स्नमधर्मोऽभिभवत्युत||1.40||
kulakshaye pranashyanti kuladharmaah sanaatanaah
dharme nashte kulam kritsnam adharmo’bhibhavatyuta||1.40||
In the destruction of a family, its ancient religious traditions perish; on the destruction of spirituality, lawlessness overtakes the whole family.
Dharma or spirituality means the duties, rites and ceremonies practiced by the family in accordance with the injunctions of the scriptures. War tends to tear us away from our natural home surroundings and uproot us from social traditions which are the essence of the mature will and experience of the people.
குலக்ஷயே ப்ரணஶ்யந்தி குலதர்மா: ஸநாதனா:
தர்மே நஷ்டே குலம் க்ருத்ஸ்னமதர்மோऽபி பவத்யுத||1.40||
குலம் அழிந்தால் என்றுமுள்ள குலதர்மங்கள் அழிகின்றன. தர்ம நாசத்தால் குலம் முழுவதையும் அதர்மம் சூழ்கிறது.
