கூடாரை வெல்லும்சீர்க் கோவிந்தா! உன்தன்னைப்
பாடிப்பறை கொண்டு யாம்பெறு சம்மானம்
நாடு புகழும் பரிசினால் நன்றாக
சூடகமே தோள்வளையே தோடே செவிப்பூவே
பாடகமே என்றனைய பல்கலனும் யாமணிவோம்
ஆடை உடுப்போம் அதன்பின்னே பாற்சோறு
நெய் பெய்து முழங்கை வழிவார
கூடி யிருந்து குளிர்ந்தேலோர் எம்பாவாய்.
பொருள்:
எதிரிகளை வெற்றிகொள்ளும் சிறப்புமிக்க கோவிந்தனே! உன்னை நாங்கள் பாடி அருள் பெற வந்தோம். அருட்செல்வத்துடன் இவ்வுலக வாழ்விற்கான பொருட்செல்வமும் தருவாயாக! அது இருந்தால் தானே நாடு புகழ்கிறது. கையில் அணியும் சூடகம், தோளில் அணியும் பாஹுவலயம், காதில் அணியும் தோடு, கர்ணப்பூ, காலில் அணியும் பாடகம் ஆகிய அணிகலன்களை எங்களுக்குக் கொடு. புத்தாடைகளை வழங்கு. பின்னர் விரதத்தை நிறைவு செய்யும் வகையில், கூட்டமாக உன்னுடன் அமர்ந்து கையில் நெய் வழிய பால்சோறு உண்போம்.
கூடாரை வெல்லும் என்ற சொற்றொடரில் இருந்து “கூடாரவல்லி” என்ற வார்த்தை பிறந்தது. இப்போது பெருமாள் கோயில்களிலும், வைணவர்களின் வீடுகளிலும் கூடாரவல்லி விழா கொண்டாடப்படும். இன்று அக்கார அடிசில் எனப்படும் உணவு பிரசித்தம். சாப்பாட்டின் மீது நெய் மிதக்கும். சர்க்கரைப் பொங்கல் போன்ற இந்த உணவின் சுவை அலாதியானது. விரதத்தின் ஆரம்பத்தில் நெய், பால் ஆகியவற்றைத் துறந்த ஆயர்குலப் பெண்கள், இப்போது கண்ணனின் தரிசனம் கிடைத்த மகிழ்ச்சியில் இனிப்பான இந்த உணவை சாப்பிடுகிறார்கள். பால்சோறு என்பது பாற்கடலையும் குறிக்கும். “”கண்ணா! உன் தரிசனம் கிடைத்து விட்டது. நாங்கள் நீ பள்ளிகொள்ளும் பாற்கடலில் இருப்பது போல் உணர்கிறோம். இதுவே நித்யசுகம். இந்த சுகத்தை எங்களுக்கு நிரந்தரமாகக் கொடு, என வேண்டுகிறார்கள்.

Meaning

And after adorning ourselves we will eat paal soru ie rice cooked in milk and ghee as your prasadam and the delicacy will be so full of ghee that the ghee will flow down our elbow as we eat. And being in unison with you, in your company, partaking of the gifts and the food that you give us, we remain together and happy and blissful.
