சுந்தரர்

சிவபெருமான் மேல் பாடப்பட்ட பன்னிரு திருமுறைகளில் முதல் ஏழு திருமுறைகளான தேவாரம், 7ம் நூற்றாண்டின் மிகச்சிறந்த நாயன்மார்களான, மூவர் என்றழைக்கப்பட்ட சம்பந்தர், திருநாவுக்கரசர் மற்றும் சுந்தரர் ஆகியோரால் பாடப்பட்டவை. தமிழகத்தில், இன்றும் கோயில்களிலும், பல வீடுகளிலும் தேவாரம் பாடும் வழக்கம் பின்பற்றப்படுகிறது. இம்மூவரில், சுந்தரருக்கு ஒரு தனி சிறப்பு உண்டு. இவர் சிவ பக்தர்களுக்காக 38,000 பதிகங்கள் பாடியுள்ளார். ஆனால் அவற்றில் இன்று நம்மிடம் இருப்பவை 100 பதிகங்கள் மட்டுமே. சுந்தரர் பாடி அருளிய பதிகங்களில் “திருத்தொண்டர் தொகை” மிகவும் பிரபலமானது. இதில் 6௦ சிறப்பு மிக்க நாயன்மார்கள், 9 பக்தர்களின்  குழுக்கள், சுந்தரர் மற்றும் அவரது பெற்றோர் ஆகியோரின் வரலாற்றை இறைவனின் அருளால் சுந்தரர் பாடியுள்ளார் என்பது மிகவும் குறிப்பிட தக்கது. அத்தகு பெருமை வாய்ந்த சுந்தரரின் திவ்ய ரூபத்தைச் சித்தரிக்கும் ஒரு அழகிய வண்ணக் கோலத்தை உங்களுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்வதில் பெரு மகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறோம்.

The Thevaram denotes the first seven volumes of Tirumurai which the twelve-volume collection of Shaiva devotional poetry. All these seven volumes are dedicated to the works of the three most prominent Tamil poets of the 7th century, the Nayanars – Sambandar, Tirunavukkarasar and Sundarar. The singing of the Thevaram is an ancient tradition that is practiced even today, in many Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu as well as in many homes. We are happy to share a beautiful Rangoli of one of the above three great saint poets, Sundarar. This humble saint gave the devotees of Shiva, about 38,000 pathigams (hymns). But only 100 pathigams are available with us now. The masterpiece of Sundharar’s work is, “Tiruthondar Thogai” that tells us through his life, the stories of the 60 great Nayanmars (devotees), Sundarar’s parents Sadayanar, Isai Jnaniyar and the nine group of devotees. It also tells about his return to Kailash, the divine abode of the Lord.
